Laura Geller (Pt.2) review
Just Swipe Cream Eyeshadow
These are like the grandma of the P.Louise colored base concealers. My suggestion: SPICE UP THESE COLORS. Warmer, brighter, and more fun!
The Laura Geller Just Swipe Cream Eyeshadow is a lightweight eyeshadow formula that’s great for a neutral, everyday eye. I received the colors Cocoa & Terracotta.
I LOVE this formula. It’s buildable, blendable, and doesn’t crease. With that being said, this color range is DULL. As a melanated beauty, I thought these colors looked nice on my skin. But they really need to be dressed up which means extra energy into making them pop, which defeats the purpose of the fast cream eyeshadow. I love that the application is quick and fast, but that’s outweighed by the extra work of having to give the colors more pizazz.
I found the best results by deepening the crease with a dark color & then blending it with a warmer color around the brow bone. It doesn’t hurt to throw some glitter on top either. Even if LG wants to stick with a neutral shade range, some glitter or iridescence would transform the energy of these drastically and give the formula more room to shine. IT’S A GOOD PRODUCT but the colors are blah.Spackle Mist Boost with Electrolytes
The Laura Geller Spackle Mist Boost with Electrolytes is a water-based makeup mist that’s meant to boost your skin’s hydration while also setting makeup. What I loved about this product was the gentle, even mist application from the nozzle. Some misting sprays are too harsh of a spray or leave droplets on my makeup, which can be very frustrating. I loved that this nozzle evenly and gently distributes the product on the face without disrupting the finished product. I also loved that this product is very skincare infused with magnesium, zinc, and copper.
What I didn’t love about this product was the scent. It smells a lot like brown sugar from Bath and Body works. It smells very artificial, and is super harsh. As someone who loads on the setting spray, I felt overwhelmed and choked by the product’s scent. I also didn’t like that the product doesn’t help with makeup transfer. After setting my makeup with this spray, I noticed that there was still a lot of transfer.
Overall, I would like this product more if it was fragrance free or was more gently scented, but it doesn't melt and set makeup the way my favorite sprays do.
Gorgeous in Gold Limited Edition Lipstick
The Laura Geller Gorgeous in Gold Limited Edition Lipstick is a dual toned lipstick with gold shimmer on the outside of the stick and a nude pink on the inside. The formula is creamy and applies on pretty nude with a little bit of gold glitter on the outside.
When I first applied the formula, I was distracted by the scent, because it smells a bit like crayons. Despite this, the formula is actually a really beautiful nude color that looks great on all skin types. What I love about this lipstick is the little bit of shimmer you get from the gold outer casing and the flexibility to pair it with a lipliner of your choice to make it your own. The formula isn’t long wear or transferproof, so if you eat or drink with it, you will want to reapply. But it’s not sticky or tacky, instead it weighs very lightweight and pretty hydrating.
Laura’s Essentials Timeless Terracotta Multi-Finish Eye & Face Palette
The Laura Geller Laura's Essentials Timeless Terracotta Multi-Finish Eye & Face Palette is a warm, desert-inspired palette. From a first glance, the color story is very bland. The only “fun” color in the palette is the Cactus green which is okay, but it’s much more cool than warm. What’s nice about this color story is that there’s a variety of transition shades for all skin types, so no matter what shade your client is, there’s a warm neutral that can be used to create a soft glam look.
Unfortunately, this palette did not perform well. The formula seemed buttery when you swatch it, but the color payoff is terrible. The only colors that performed decently were Sierra and Canyon, which I used to warm up the eye look around the brown bone. What shocked me the most was that even the highlighter shade, Mirage, payoff was streaky and hardly pigmented. This palette was not good.
