Lilac St. review

Lilac St. lashes are an at-home lash experience designed to provide a more natural and longer-lasting alternative to strip lashes, while being more affordable than professional extensions.

Having been gifted the Deluxe Starter Kit, which included the 10 mm Originals, 12 mm Prism, and 14 mm Midnight lashes, I was eager to try them out. The kit promises a fluttery, seamless lash look that feels more like extensions than anything you can get from a strip lash.

Preparation

After washing my face, I used the Lilac Lash Conditioning Primer, which cleaned off any oils or debris from my natural lashes. This was a crucial step to ensure the lashes adhered properly and had the lasting power Lilac Street is known for.

Application

I applied the Lilac Pro Lash glue at the base of my lashes. Instead of combing it through my lashes like mascara, it’s important to only apply it at the base and, if you want, a little on the lash itself.

Although the kit came with metal applicators, I found them tricky to work with, especially when positioning the lashes close to my waterline. Switching to my fingers gave me more control. I started at the outer corner with two 14 mm lashes, followed by two 12 mm lashes, and a single 10 mm lash on the inner corner for both eyes.

Though I do love a longer lash around 16 or 18 mm, these lashes blended effortlessly with my natural ones and were soft and fluttery. For my left eye, the two closest to my inner corner started to get irritated, so I think I could’ve applied them up higher because I didn’t feel them at all on my right eye.

Pros and cons

Overall, these lashes are great! The products didn’t irritate or sting my eyes and I was pleasantly surprised with how well the glue held. The downside was that these lashes aren’t really for makeup girlies, because if you wash your face or want to remove makeup, the lashes will come off. My main concern about the lashes is the long-term effects of wearing something on your water line. I saw a video about how tightlining your eyes over time can kill off the oil glands in your water line, so I was curious about how often these can be worn and if there’s any risks with wearing these frequently.

I might be overthinking it, but it’s something to consider. That said, I was very happy with their performance and, now, I know what not to do in the future, and have a better understanding of how to extend them next time I apply them.

Other things I liked about these lashes were:

  • Length and variety

The range of lengths in the kit allowed me to create a subtle cat eye, enhancing the natural shape of my eyes. You could make these more natural with the 10 and 12 mm lashes or go more glam with all 14 mms.

  • Wearability

I was surprised at how well these held up after working out, sleeping in them, and showering. The downside to these is for makeup girlies because these don’t stand up well against face wash or makeup remover. If you wear a full face, these may be better when you’re doing low-maintenance things like going to the hospital, camping, or other stuff where you wouldn’t have time to do a full face.

  • Sensitivity

These lashes gave me no trouble with my contacts and the products didn’t burn or sting my eyes. When applied correctly, you hardly know they’re there and aren’t heavy or irritating throughout the day.

The final verdict

These a 100% yes, especially for the no-makeup days when you want natural glam.
